Satellite event: Art education talks: climate crisis / Dr. Ásthildur Jónsdóttir: ARTISTIC ACTIONS FOR SUSTAINABILITY

The climate crisis is a complex socio-ecological, economic and cultural challenge that permeates all areas of life, which is why we must also address its issues in art education.

Dr. Ásthildur Jónsdóttir, known for her innovative, creative approaches to art and sustainability education, will work with concepts of sustainability through participatory pedagogy by fostering a creative and collaborative learning environment. She will integrate artistic practices with community engagement to address environmental and social challenges, encouraging students to explore sustainability through handson projects and interdisciplinary collaboration.

She will introduce methods such as participatory artmaking, dialogic learning, and co-creative problem-solving. Dr. Jónsdóttir will discuss why it is important to inspire students to think critically and act collectively. Her approach will emphasize the role of imagination and creativity in envisioning sustainable futures, empowering students to become active agents of change within their communities.
